One silhouette, four fabrics
Every pant on this page is cut wide from the hip, and the fabric decides where you wear it. The dress pants are a polyester and spandex knit that holds a crease. The linen-blend pants mix linen with cotton or nylon and wrinkle the way linen should. The palazzo pants are a light rayon and nylon that moves in a breeze, and most of the sweatpants are a 60 percent cotton blend.
A wide leg flatters most when the waist is clear. Tuck a shirt, or wear a top that ends at the waistband. Hem length is the other rule: with sandals and sneakers, choose a pair that grazes the ankle, and with heels, one that nearly touches the floor.
